Building your blog is not about writing content

June 2, 2008

Many bloggers in the blogosphere  think that building a blog is equal to writing content (only content).That is not the only way your blog succeeds in this competitive Internet world guyz! Yes,I do believe content as a part of blogging but don’t think content as the only brick which helps your blog to build.

So what is blog building  according to us ?

Blog Building means Setting your Goals.

Set your goals on blog traffic,subscriber count,monthly revenue  and ranking, And achieve them in a given period of time.Start aiming with easier task and as time progresses,try to achieve big goals.

Blog building means

building community

Interacting with your readers and talking with them on platforms like Gtalk,Twitter,blogcatalog or anyt social networking community is a way to know your potential in blogging and your best niche.

Blog building means experimenting

Experimenting your blog by placing adsense or other ad network on different position and researching the best ad placement spot or posting something different,starting a competition,changing the wordpress theme are some of the ways to experiment with your blog.The more you experiment,the more you learn.

Blog building means branding yourself and your business

Not only choosing a good domain name but also making your blog unique and different from your blogging niche competitor will build your blog and drive you to the top.

Blog building means generating traffic

Simple way to get good amount of traffic is by submitting articles to social sites and marketing  about your blog using your seo skill.Going with paid directory or free directory listing does help a lot.Remember not to do these things.

Blog building means writing Good content

As I said,content is not the only brick for building a blog,but it is plays a role in building your blog.Yes content is the king but relevant useful content is king nowadays.Their are tons of junk unrelated fresh articles on the Internet  which is being written every hour.So make sure you don’t fall in their group.

This should be a good read for someone whose started blogging or thinking of joining the party.

@Regarding “Comments”

It depends on your perception. You won’t get comments on every post that you make, key is, don’t get disappointed at all. The “You scratch my back, I’ll Scratch yours” is a good concept, ranks you in social networking and people visit your blog often because you are doing the same for them.

@all very well said :)
But still if you don’t have that determination and are disheartened by no comments or less comments then probably blogging is not for you :)

A good comment only hypes up its readers 60% but it takes 40% to interact with others and comment on others blogs as there is a saying.
“You scratch my back and i’ll scratch yours” lol :D .

This is a great post. You are definitely right about these things. No matter how good your contents are but, you don’t have time to interact with other bloggers. Then, it will result to nothing. Just like what’s happening to me. I love to blog. It’s just that I only get to touch my PC whenever I get a chance to. My family and my job are the main reason for this. But, of course we have our own priorities. Yet, I do love what I’m doing. From blogging to working, taking care of my family to blogging. Hah! Here we go. So, keep up the good work.

Yeah, I agree with Siddharth. If there will be no response from the visitors, the writer will get discouraged and stop writing. I know such people who stopped blogging just because they didn’t got comments.
