There are lots of tools and methods to test your website compatibility on different browser and there are even online tools to check your website loading speed ! When I do my usability analysis on other sites I use http://tools.pingdom.com/ to test site speed. I rate their site load time using this simple scale.

This load time depends on the theme, basic themes without any images will load much faster that themes with background images.
