Download Vista VLC Media Player (For Windows Vista/XP)

July 24, 2009

vista_vlc_media_playerThe latest VLC media player has been released with an anticipated updates and features. The older version of VLC media Player were not compatible with Windows Vista and therefore some ways to fix the vista and VLC player issues were tried out in the VLC forums, end result – it worked pretty well though.

Anyway, the latest VLC player -  VLC media player 1.0.0 final is available for download for Windows platform including Vista and XP. VLC Player is free and open source media player that can be a better alternative to Windows media player or Winamp music player.

VLC Player supports the following audio and video formats

MPEG-1/2, DIVX, OGG, MP3, MPEG-4 ASP, DivX 4/5/6, XviD, 3ivX D4, H.261, H.263 / H.263i, H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC, WMV 3 / WMV-9 / VC-1

Problem With VLC Media Player And Windows Vista

The older version of VLC Media player didn’t support Windows Vista. But there was a work around which VLC media to work on Vista platform by going to advanced VLC settings and using  “OpenGL”, “DirectX“ or “Windows GDI”.

Though this worked quite well but with the later version of VLC Media player (above VLC player 0.8.6d), the issues of Windows vista and VLC media player are fixed. Vlc media player versions like 0.9.8a and VLC media player 1.0.0 final supports Windows Vista (Windows Vista Service Pack 2), Windows XP (Windows XP SP3) and Windows 7 OS.

So download the final Vista VLC media player version for smooth and easy view of VLC files on your Windows vista system ;)
