iOS 6 Users Rejoice, as Google Will Release iOS Google Maps App Today

Complaints were all over the place when Apple decided to kick Google Maps out of the iOS field and replace it with their own Apple Maps. Unfortunately, Apple Maps was shipped with innumerable issues  — some minor and some not so — that troubled the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users.

Now, Apple Maps may soon be a thing of the past, as Google will launch the new iOS map tonight, according to All Things D.

Update: The Google Maps app is already available in the iTunes App Store.

Users who have upgraded their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to the iOS 6 firmware are aware of the bugs and issues related to iOS 6. On top of that, Apple Maps is really buggy — it is so bad that even the Australian police have requested people to stop using Apple Maps to get directions.

Google Maps has been our go-to mapping application, and Apple has clearly left a lot of users frustrated by removing Google Maps app from the iOS 6 OS. Fortunately, as we reported last month, Google is polishing the new iOS app.

We are not entirely sure if we will have the new iOS Google Maps app tonight, but let’s hope the news is true. Also, let’s hope that Apple doesn’t thrash Google Maps app, as they did with Microsoft’s SkyDrive app this week — Apple blocked SkyDrive app updates from reaching the iTunes App Store.
