Call me crazy for buying a $99/year suite for online services to maximize my Mac, but for a power machine that brings on the big bucks — I’d defend myself by saying that I’m protecting my investment. Of course, when Apple released a redesigned MobileMe, I was literally jumping with joy for the easier way I could organize my life.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. For those who are not familiar with MobileMe, it is an application which allows you to sync your iPhone, Mac, iPad, PC, and other related devices. I don’t have to continually plug my iPhone to my Mac in order to sync new contacts and updated documents. With MobileMe, everything is made easier and faster.
The New MobileMe
The new MobileMe has a sleeker design for mail, with a cleaner and more sophisticated web interface, and a fresh application switcher. When I logged in this morning at me.com, I was surprised to see a more detailed and beautiful splash screen, and the app icons that used to litter my screen were replaced by a single cloud icon.
The cloud icon is both a unique and dashing touch to the latest update of MobileMe. It allows me to switch in between application: better synchronization and switching from Mail, Calendar, iDisk, and other Apple services.
Even the Mail is better. There is now a rich-formatting toolbar with an added security with SSL. Furthermore, it now enables me to send and receive emails from external addresses which were not allowed in the old versions.
Also, there is a junk mail filtering service which sends spam emails to the junk folder. It is made easier with a single button that will let me label an item as “Not Junk” and to have the email be returned in my inbox. Not only that, but my iDisk app is now better with more prominent Upload and Download buttons for easier file sharing.
Basically I would say that I am bowled away by the beauty and stylish updates for the MobileMe. User Interface buttons were cleaned and made easier to understand, as well as the response is faster in terms of loading applications and other services.
Now I can really say that MobileMe changed my life. With the sleeker designs, my life just became a little more uncomplicated.
