Some of us may love Newsstand, some of us not so much. For the majority who barely use the app and hate looking at Newsstand on their homescreen, there’s a way to make you feel better:
Simply remove or hide Newsstand icon.
A tiny buy in the iOS 5 allowed any iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch user to hide Newsstand icon in a folder. This required no jailbreak, but unfortunately the bug was later fixed in iOS 5.1. The trick, available on Lifehacker, no longer works for two reasons:
If you have a jailbroken device, hiding Newsstand is very much possible. You have to download a small but nifty little Cydia app to permanently remove Newsstand icon from your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
NoNewsisgoodnews is the app available on Cydia for free.
Launch Cydia, tap on Search and type in the keyword NoNewsisgoodnews. Confirm and install the app, restart Springboard and that’s about it — you don’t have to do anything! Newsstand will automatically disappear from your iOS homescreen permanently.
You will not be able to find Newsstand app even through the iOS search function. Uninstalling the app brings back Newsstand, although I don’t think you want to do that any time!
