The new iTunes 10 version was announced by Apple with a brand new logo (better than the old one? Well, not that stylish!) and is now available for download on both Mac OS X and Windows 32-bit and 64-bit version.

What sets iTunes 10 for Windows and Mac apart from the older version is the inclusion of Ping which is the new form of social networking for music, and of course – improved sync, hybrid column listing of albums are added in this version.

Watch TV shows in HD as long as you are in the US with the new TV show rentals section in the iTunes 10. In addition to this, the iTunes AirPlay lets you stream and transmit music wirelessly onto systems sold by Bowers & Wilkins and Denon vendors.

That was a quick wrap up on what’s new in the Apple iTunes 10. You can explore the Ping feature or try out the iTunes Airplay by downloading iTunes 10 on your computer. And yeah – its free to download!

The world’s most resilient bittorrent site: ThePirateBay sets its foot in the world of documentary movies that will expose the three founders of TPB — how the PirateBay has evolved over the years — and share the founders stories on open internet.

And to fund the movie, Swedish filmmaker: Simon Klose started the campaign couple of days ago with the intention to raise $25,000 for editing the unedited footage of 200 hours on the documentary titled “The Pirate Bay — Away From Keyboard.”

TPB users, the movers and shakers of TPB AFK, took the initiative and donated over $34000 and that too within 3 days. And the funds are accepted till September 27. So there’s a good chances of raking in over $100,000 and hopefully the money will be put to use in a way that TPB AFK will remain in the spotlight for months to come.

Watch The Pirate Bay – Away From Keyboard Documentary Trailer

Of course, the TPB AFK documentary will be made freely available for download on ThePirateBay website. And for those who wish to support the developers can purchase the DVD of the movie. But all this only after the movie is released which is said to happen by the end of this year!

The Pirate Bay — Away From Keyboard is surely turning out to be a must-watch documentary movie and I think there’s a happy ending in this movie

A good laptop is always worth discussing and so here is the news about two new gems from HP. The company continues to expand its Envy line of laptops with these new offerings: the HP Envy 14 Beats and the HP Envy 17 3D. It may not seem too long since the original Envy 14 and 17 laptops hit the market, but HP is already with new versions of both. Let’s find out more about them.

Envy 14 Beats has a black and red design, which sets it apart from the rest of the Envy lineup. The backlit (red) keyboard looks uber-cool. The USP of this laptop is its high-end audio rendering capability (hence the name ‘Beats’) and the Beats headphones come as a part of the package.

But still at $1249, this laptop is bit too pricey, even for the most ardent Dr. Dre fans (you remember the collaboration between Dr. Dre and HP for these Beats products right?).

And Envy 17 laptop was already in a pretty shape. But HP will give you a reason to smile with the laptop which is now powered by AMD’s 3D technology and has a 17.3 inch Ultra BrightView display, capable of rendering 3D images.

To support 3D video and gaming, it will ship with active shutter glasses. But the biggest news is that it will support 3D Blu-ray discs! So, get ready to watch Avatar and other titles without having to visit 3D theaters. Previews of the Envy 17, particularly the 3D content, have been really positive and even though the Envy 17 3D will be priced upwards of $2000, it should be a laptop worth a buy.

HP has also stated that a lot of work has been put in to improve viewing angles, something which is critical for 3D content.

But these high end multimedia laptops are not the only newsmakers from HP right now. The company has also unveiled an improved dm3 Pavilion at $549, which has the new CoolSense technology at its heart, for faster cooling of the chassis.

Let’s hope that the good stuff keeps coming from HP!

During the Apple keynote today, Steve Jobs said that the iPod touch is Apple’s most popular iPod and then, of course, unveiled the new iPod touch fourth-gen that has major improvements over the iPod touch 3G version.

In addition to this, Jobs also announced the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano and itunes 10. However, the new device: iPod touch fourth generation captures my attention as it is almost similar to iPhone 4 (no calling feature, of course).

For starters, this new iPod touch 4G will come with an A4 processor for delivering better performance and then the iPhone4’s super-high-resolution Retina display along with dual cameras: front facing VGA Camera features FaceTime support while the rear camera is capable of shooting HD video.

And we all know that the iPod touch battery drains out pretty quickly (especially while multitasking), so Apple has taken care of this by introducing battery that last long with 40 hours music playback (30 hours in iPod touch 3G).

Now that we could record HD videos – I think 32GB would be the best deal to go with as the extra storage space could come in handy.

By the way, the official page to buy iPod touch 4G along with other music and media devices will be up very soon and you can order them by next week. Speaking of which, the price of iPod touch is slightly increased (only for 8GB model) but this surely looks like an convincing upgrade.

8GB iPod Touch 4G: $229 in Apple Store.

32GB iPod Touch 4G: $299 in Apple Store.

64GB iPod Touch 4G: $399 in Apple Store.

It is clear that iPod touch fourth-gen — with the extra crisper screen, camera, HD video recording and powerful A4 processor — is a winner already. I really wish I had waited a little longer before buying iPod touch 3G. But oh well, I might buy this one

Managing thousands of emails in your inbox may have always been a nightmare, but it ends here. Within the next week, Google will roll out a new Gmail Priority Inbox, which will help millions of people save time and work more efficiently.

So what is it all about? Well, to be precise this new inbox will present all your important mails in one place, which will show up at the top, so that you do not miss out. And how will Gmail know which mails are ‘priority’? An algorithm has been used to select mails as priority. The people you mail the most, and general emailing patterns and keywords are all taken into account.

Of course you can also provide leads by marking mails as important or unimportant. At the same time Gmail filters can also be used to mark emails. What will attract you the most is the simplicity of the setup. Initially you will get a prompt asking whether you want to enable the Priority Inbox option.

The only other choices you can (but don’t have to) make are stuff such as the order in which you want various categories of mails to appear in your inbox and whether you want to mark any contacts as ‘important’ so that their mails are always classified as ‘priority’.

The Priority Inbox (page) will display all the unread mails in that category as opposed to all mails (ads, catalogues and utter rubbish included!) in the Gmail inbox you get now. The priority mails will appear as ‘important and unread’. ‘Starred’ emails form the next section, wherein you can mark important emails with a star to retain them in your inbox for future reference. All other mails are kept under the ‘everything else’ section.

The system may not work perfectly from the outset, because the adaptive algorithm will take time to deliver mails to right inbox with unerring accuracy. You can immediately rectify initial mistakes with one click.

A lot of testing has gone into this Gmail Priority Inbox feature and it has shown that users are taking 16% less time in their inboxes. This is what people who receive hundreds of emails every day have been looking for. This will also make email introductions and the subject line text more important. But if it does work the way it’s supposed to then our emailing experience will never be the same again!

Check out the excellent demo video on Gmail Priority Inbox:

If you still remember (or use?) the Autodesk CAD program released for MAC operating systems in 1992, this bit of news may be something you have waited for long. 18 years to be precise, but the fact is that AutoCAD is back for the Mac OS X.

And make the comeback even grander, Autodesk also plans to launch an AutoCAD app for the iPad and iPhone. So, if you are into computer aided designing, you can do your stuff on the go from now on.

CAD programs from Autodesk are the best available right now and so Mac users were missing out until now. But that’s about to change because Autodesk is targeting professional users of Apple devices like never before. After all there has been tremendous growth in the use of Macintosh computers in the corporate sector.

Till date you may have used AutoCAD as a virtualized or BootCamp installation, which has been the only way to access AutoCAD on Mac since Apple started using Intel processors. And since this change in 2006, Mac has been growing at a phenomenal rate as far as business usage is concerned. The latest quarterly reports show shipments growing by 50% for Mac, while the industry average is only 15.7%.

This is just for business consumers and shipments to government have grown at the rate of 200%! So it is no wonder that powerful tools such as the AutoCAD are returning to Mac, because a lot of potential for symbiotic growth is there. After all, despite the impressive growth figures, Mac’s overall share in the global computer market is a paltry 4%. Most certainly therefore, sky is the limit!

As far as the iPad and iPhone app is concerned, AutoCAD is treading tested waters because the Sketchbook Mobile and Sketchbook Pro apps it launched earlier this year, are doing really well. But they are basically consumer tools while AutoCAD is focused towards power users. So there is very little scope of these three apps coming in each others way.

AutoCAD for Mac will be made available for pre-ordering on the Autodesk site.

In you quest to get more from your Android device, you may have used CyanogenMod before. But do you know that now it supports Android 2.2 as well? No surprises if you don’t, because this is a very recent development.

The new version of this hacker-made extension for Android OS, is already being downloaded by lots of Android phone owners. And why is it such an in-demand download? Well, if you have a rooted device, it can increase speed as well as battery life of Android based smartphones. Moreover, this mod can help you access features which are not supported by the Android OS normally.

What’s new with CyanogenMod 6.0

The new features include music app enhancements, browser improvements and many such add-ons. Though rooting is not as popular for Android devices as jailbreaking is for the iPhone, but mods such as this one gives you good reason to root your device.

The latest version of the Cyanogen mod: CyanogenMod 6.0, also promises to make older Android phones faster and smarter. So if you have a device such as the Nexus One, this is really good news for you, isn’t it?

But what if you have just installed the Android 2.2 Froyo OS and have been desperately looking for a mod? Well, the Cyanogen 6.0 works fine with the Froyo and has been tested on 12 devices including the Motorola Droid, Evo and HTC Incredible for stability.

CyanogenMod 6.0 Works on the following Android Phones

Google’s Nexus One, Motorola Droid, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Dream/Sapphire, HTC Slide, Samsung Galaxy S (for T-Mobile’s Vibrant), and HTC Aria. Also coming soon on HTC Desire, HTC Hero [both CDMA & GSM] and HTC Droid Incredible.

Users are already gushing about the mod, if the comments on the Cyanogen forum are anything to go by. However, some bugs and glitches have also been identifies by users. As usual there are some problems people are facing in installing the mod. Also, apps such as Google Maps are not running too smoothly if some of the complaints are true.

These are common issues and some of them will surely be sorted out (if indeed the problems exist) in a 6.0.1 CyanogenMod update.

Do remember that using this mod involves hacking your phone, and there is always the risk of ‘bricking’ your Android device in the process. If you are willing to take that risk, then Cyanogen mod is a useful download and can really enhance your Android experience.

The developments around the acquisition of 3Par may have been in the news for the last 48 hours, but it is not yet clear what’s in it for you if Dell actually gets the company. Well, let’s try to find that out right now.

The basic idea Dell has behind the acquisition bid is to strengthen its presence in cloud computing. At the same time the company is relaxed about HP’s rival bid for 3Par.

3Par is in the business of making scalable modular storage platforms which allocate the amount of storage an app needs. This helps in achieving greater device efficiency. Owning the company would give Dell improved presence in large enterprises.

HP and Dell in 3Par Acquisition. But Why?

Though the forecasts are not too good in the high end storage business, Dell appears to have seen long term potential better than others (and HP has too!). And indeed smarter computing at an enterprise level has a long way to go. So as you try to consolidate your datacenters, you will have to switch to services such as cloud computing for storage.

That’s were 3Par comes in and that’s exactly where Dell hopes to cash in. It is one of few companies which already has the ability to help enterprises modify their datacenters in this manner.

If Dell does get 3Par, you can look forward to wide array of storage products such the low-end ones which Dell already has (EqualLogic) and high-end ones which 3Par has, from one vendor (Dell).

And Dell really needs high-end storage products to compete with other big vendors and be able to supply all parts of a data center. Most enterprises looking for a datacenter, want a single vendor to take care of the entire project, and Dell may be missing out on opportunities due to this right now.

But why then, is Dell so relaxed about the superior bid from HP outdoing its bid by $3 per share? Well, mainly because if the company does not get 3Par, the focus will shift on developing partnerships with smaller vendors to build complete datacenter portfolios. Cisco Systems is already doing that, and it may be an example worth following.

Samsung fans have a great reason to rejoice. The company has just announced that the Samsung Galaxy S line up has shipped one million devices in the US market. And this is big news because it is being sold by just two carriers as of now!

Moreover, the Galaxy S models: Captivate on AT&T and Vibrant on T-Mobile are only selling since the middle of July. So, these impressive numbers have been notched up in just under a month and a half!

With GPS issues on Samsung galaxy, it is interesting to see what has spurred the rise of the Galaxy S mobiles. Surely Android will see this as another major victory, but the OS is often only as good as the phone and you must commend the features of the mobiles too. It seems that the much vaunted super AMOLED display and 1GHz Hummingbird processors have worked their magic!

And given the fact that two more models of the Galaxy S line- the Epic 4G and the Fascinate will soon be available on Sprint and Verizon, Samsung can expect much bigger and better landmarks in the near future. US Cellular and Cellular South will also start selling these phones later this year.

With several carriers and a diversified range the Galaxy S range could easily take on Motorola and HTC devices on their home turf- high end Android devices. After all, these two companies have so far kept Samsung away from the party quite effectively. But the question is: for how much longer will they be able to resist the Samsung onslaught?

There may be one more reason behind the astounding success of the Samsung Galaxy S range. Many of those who have been trying in vain to get their hands on the Motorola Droid X or the HTC Droid Incredible, may just have flipped and gone for the Samsung Galaxy S instead. But supply problems are the companies’ own failings and this should not reduce the praise that Samsung deserves for making the Galaxy line a success.

Moreover, the Samsung phones have hit this sales figure despite having a GPS glitch, which was due to firmware error and faulty GPS circuitry. And despite the promised firmware update yet to arrive, these phones have been flying off the racks with incredible speed. This perhaps also goes on to show that Samsung phones have created a greater trust among consumers than before.

And when the Samsung Galaxy S phones are soon to be updated with latest Android OS and that should make them even more coveted!

If you had high hopes from Windows Phone 7, then the latest piece of news may boost your hopes even further. A recent video from Pocketnow shows that the OS boots faster than the Android and iPhone iOS4, and that too by quite a margin!

Windows Mobile used to be a really powerful mobile platform, but that is history now, with iPhone iOS and Android being the trendsetters these days. Even at its peak Windows Mobile was never known for its agility, but looks like they are back in the business!

The latest Windows OS for mobile boots in an impressive 25 seconds – from power off to a navigable home-screen! In comparison, iPhone iOS4 and Android devices take about one minute to reach a usable state. The previous Windows Mobile 6.5 took over a minute to boot up. Now that’s an improvement isn’t it?

While speedy booting may not be an earth shattering benefit, but let’s face it, high end smartphones need to reboot quite often. This is because their operations are similar to computers and any changes made to the system (installing apps, removing apps and more) can only take proper effect after a reboot.

In this case will it not be really nice if your phone can spring back to action in under 30 seconds? And it’s not as if only Microsoft devices need rebooting (an argument forwarded by most Windows haters)!

By the look of things, Windows Phone 7 will be worth the wait. After all it has already been proven that it can outdo the Blackberry 6.0 browser and can go neck-in-neck with Android and iPhone browsers. And even more encouraging is the fact that the OS is far from a finished product. So you can easily expect further improvements to come in place.

Even in the scenario that no significant improvements are made, you can expect a top-notch OS soon enough. The only thing Microsoft needs to do now is to ensure that the OS gets proper hardware support to bring the best out of it. After all, an operating system can perform well, only if the hardware allows it to!
