Nintendo Wii 2 Console Launch Confirmed

Wii 2, which was rumored to be the forthcoming console of Nintendo, will finally see the light of the day real soon. Jay predicted the launch of Wii 2 happening somewhere in the middle of 2011; however according to a very popular gaming portal, IGN, Nintendo is working on the next-generation of gaming console — codenamed as Project Cafe — which will launch in the year 2012.

Although no specific dates of the launch of Wii 2 has been put up, but the rumored release date of Wii 2 is said to be in early 2012. And the retail price of Wii 2 console will probably stick somewhere between $350 to $400.

What’s more with Nintendo Wii 2

In terms of hardware, Nintendo Wii 2 is said to take on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Although nothing promising has been unveiled on the design aspect, but Wii 2 will push along a design “comparable” to the Xbox 360.

Nintendo Wii 2 Console Launch Confirmed

However, the big question of whether Wii 2 will have an HD and blu-ray drive remains unanswered. I am hoping that Nintendo is working on it, or at least working on something bigger and innovative. Whatever it is, for now, take this information with a grain of salt.

On the other hand, Nintendo is facing decline in its annual profit which has slumped by 66%. You know, Nintendo, launching the Wii 2 will upright the percentage.

  1. very good news from Nintendo i hope the new gaming console will have a great features and available all over the world with affordable price with less price so many gaming lovers can buy it and enjoy those games which are now only available for high class people so price should be available for all the people.

  2. If Wii successor also held in India so many gaming lovers will attend and also they know about this generation different gaming consoles i heard that the next gaming console from Nintendo they will launch it in the summer of 2012 i hope this new console will be the best gaming console among all the gaming consoles and its price will also be reasonable for all the people.

  3. Im not really hoping for a new console altogether. I want it to be an upgraded version of the wii, maybe with some HD?

    • It has been a long wait for sure! Nintendo should do something “new” this time, perhaps the inculcation of 3D wouldn’t make a greater impact. I’d definitely buy the Wii with HD and Blu-ray drive, after all this is what everyone is craving for.

  4. I’m still a little worried they’re ignoring graphics again. Releasing something in 2012 comparable to the 360 isn’t saying a whole lot. Microsoft will likely be releasing their next console in a year or two, putting Nintendo behind again.

Graphics aren’t everything and I’m always rooting for Nintendo, but it seems like they’re not going for cutting edge again.

    • You bet! As we go farther into 2011, we could witness newer technology. And by the time Nintendo drops its Wii 2 in the market, it may not be a BIG hit, especially because there will be many more competitive consoles out there.

It is way too early to talk about Wii2. However, Nintendo — or any company for that matter — should understand, evaluate and focus on our gaming needs, which will lead them to nothing but success.

  5. Looks interesting! Although I’m not much of a gamer, I do own a current-gen Wii and, whilst it is quite fun, there is a comsiderable difference in quality between the Wii and Xbox or PS3. Let’s hope Nintendo brings this console into the HD world!
