Waiting to Buy Notion Ink Adam Tablet?

By Sidharth | Gadgets

Perhaps one of the most anticipated releases of the year – the Notion Ink Adam is expected to launch next month or early January (thanks Mark). The Adam, developed by India’s first every IT foray – Notion Ink Designs has been the talk around town for many months.

With what was supposed to be released by the end of September, looks to be like a gadget that will probably be showcased late January 2011 before Xmas or January 6th, 2011 (thanks for pointing out the mistake, Mark). While no official word has been made on the developments at the Notion Ink Lab, a lot of hungry techies are constantly browsing at the official blog to see any signs of news.

The latest update from the Notion Ink Studio labs shows a teaser trailer that sure has put a lot of critics in their place. For those that need to check out the trailer, click here.

Features of Notion Ink Adam Tablet

The Notion Ink is not just any MID. It is one of the most comprehensive tablet styled PCs that is set to take the market by storm. While no word on the exact specifications of the device has been released, we do know that it’s going to be released with a 10.1 inch screen display, a 3.2MP AutoFocus Camera, 1GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Tegra 250 Chip.

It should weigh just under 2 kilograms and should come with expandable memory compared to the 8GB internal flash storage. The notion has made news around the world due to the fact that it has a 3Axis Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor and Digital Compass.

Notion Ink has confirmed that the device will be connectable via WWAN, WLAN and Bluetooth so as to offer much more flexibility for its users. Design wise, the Adam is a neat, thin matt finish gadget that is sure to make tech aficionados go gaga over it.

Demonstration specs have said that it should come with a HDMI output port, 2x USB 2.0 Port, Micro SD Slot as well as SIM Card Slot. Other than that, no other information has divulged about the device.

Buying the Notion Ink Adam?

So far, Notion Ink’s Adam has kept a number of people on their feet as they have been compared to be great competitors in the market.

Currently, the marketplace for tablet PCs seems to be a bit saturated with Apple’s iPad, ExoPC slate, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and China’s Rip Offs. The Adam once introduced to the market is sure to make some changes and should be priced with an affordable tag as well. Let’s see how it fares in the market…

You give the weight as “just under 2 kilograms” — according to the notionInk website, it’s actually going to be 1.6 pounds, which is about .72 kilograms — so about 3/4 of a kilogram, not just under 2 kilograms.

2Kg would be one heavy sumbitch of a tablet! 😉

Might want to use some newer pictures. The first one is old and the second is a fan rendering. Newer pictures can be found here,

Hi Sid,

nice article. The announced weight is about 1.6 pounds which is about 800g. Just below 2kg would be a bit heavy for a tablet 😉

Please either quote your source, a source, any source, or remove or correct this post. There has been no talk of a further delay, and nowhere has late January been mentioned as a release date. The two provisional dates mentioned by Notion Ink are just before Xmas or January 6th, i.e. CES 2011.

You do realise that many people are waiting for this tablet, and this kind of irresponsible reporting may just affect sales, especially if a rumour like this starts to become viral on the net. After all the very hard work that NI have done trying to get this great product to market, the least they deserve is honest reporting from the Blogosphere.

On what you based it delayed again. First date was June but because the tegra2 Chooser was delayed and the company had funding problems it could not make it at that time. Ever since both problems have been resolved the target has been Christmas 2010 or Jan 2011 depending on the speed of the FCC approval
