How to Access Mac App Store on the iMac Computer
Last month, Apple rolled out the all new Mac App Store, which brings in iTunes-like App Store on your Mac computer. Whether you are using an iMac, or Macbook Pro, accessing the coveted Mac App Store is plain and easy on the new mac machines.
However, you should know that Apple has baked the App Store directly into the Mac OS X. So, if you want to access the store from the desktop, you must upgrade to the newer Mac Operating System.
How to Upgrade Mac OS
As of this writing, the newer iMac computer bundles the Mac OS X 10.6.4, while the only way to access the App Store is to operate on the Mac OS X 10.6.6.
To upgrade Mac OS: Click on the Apple icon located in the top-left corner of your screen, choose “Software Update.”
This should invoke a window, listing the new software available for your iMac computer. Choose the “Mac OS X Update Combined,” which is 1.06GB in size. Click on install item as shown in the screen-shot.
The download might take a while to complete, but once done, restart your computer. Click on the Apple icon and you will notice the new item in the menu: “Mac App Store.” Click on it and browse through the thousands of Mac apps. Do try out some of the free apps like Twitter, iSlice, Textwrangler and Evernote.

No, MACC. You must be running the Mac OS X 10.6 or higher to use the Mac App Store. Give it a try and update your Mac OS X to 10.6, it is around 1GB in size.
