Disable Orktut Chatting

Here are the simple steps to set invisible offline mode by changing the settings in your orkut account :

1. Login to orkut account

2. Navigate towards the Setting tab

3. Click on Chat and deselect friends or group of friends you do not want to chat with!

4. Save changes and unchecked group of friends will not appear in your orkut chat list

After writing about how to backup orkut profile I found Gautam sharing a nice program on Orkutplus which creates a backup of Orkut community.Some intruders or evil moderators often tend to delete the whole topics,posts and other polls in your owned community,as orkut doesn’t restore any deleted information on there server (no backup!) you will loose the active community members and those topics with a simple mistake.

By default Orkut doesn’t have a option to backup the community,so community backup freeware can be a alternative solution.Though the program is in experimental stage but you can still make a backup of topics posted on your owned communities.The ability to backup all the Topic pages from the community will be available soon!

Backing up via Orkut Community Backupmate

Quickly visit the backupmate page and enter the following details including your Community ID ( numbers followed by http://www.orkut.com/Main#Community.aspx?cmm= )

For example : http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#Community.aspx?cmm=483908 then your Community ID will be 483908.After this Click on Create backup to get the topics in a plain text,alternately you can also download the community topics to your local drive! I hope the program gets further developed and allows more functionality backup process!
