Converting .DOCX file into a .DOC format makes sense for several reasons. Let’s assume that your friend doesn’t have the new version of Word installed, and if you are sending a DOC file, it is much easier to open even on an older version of Microsoft Word. If you will send .DOCX file, he/she won’t be able to open it.
In my previous post on how to open docx file, I shared that you must install Microsoft’s compatibility pack or convert docx file to other formats to view the contents of the file. Here are two easy ways to convert docx to doc file:
Method 1) Use Microsoft Word. Open the DOCX file in the Microsoft Word software, and from the menu, select “Save as…” and save the file in DOC format. This is probably the best way to convert docx files and requires no Internet connection.
Method 2) Use DOCX viewers and converters. If you don’t have Word installed, and if you have received the file from someone else, you may want to use Google Docs, a free document viewer from Google to open files like DOCX, PDF, etc. Simply log in to your Google account, upload the DOCX file and wait for Google to process the file. Once the file has been uploaded completely, you can view the content, edit them the way you want. You can also save the file in any other format. For example, you can upload PDF file and save it as DOCX or the other way around.
