Have a document that you want to convert from Adobe PDF to Word format?

There are benefits of converting files online. For instance, if you pick a file that needs to be converted, convert it using online tools as there is no need to download any software.

The online file conversion can take place on any kind of browser and on any type of OS — Windows, Mac or Linux — as everything happens on the server. Plus, you don’t have to pay anything, as online document converting services are free to use.

Before Using These PDF Converter Tools

After having used most of these web tools regularly, I know some of them can be shady. Although you don’t have to register an account for converting .PDF to .DOC file format, you may receive unexpected email message from them — these are usually promotional messages, but they are occasionally sent.

This usually happens when you ask these sites to send you an email after the file has been converted. Note that all the submitted and converted files will remain on the servers for a short time, which means you have to download them quickly — none of your files will be visible on the Internet.

One More Things…

Most of us convert files because editing .doc documents is easier than editing PDFs. Teachers, usually in college, demand students to send assignments and homeworks in Microsoft Word format.

Now, if you are going to use the sites mentioned below, and you don’t want to receive promotional messages, use disposable email addresses instead of going with your primary email address.

That said, here are my top 7 picks of the best online tools available on the web that makes it easier to convert PDF to Microsoft’s Word documents.

Convert PDF to Word Online

1. Google Docs – After uploading PDF documents to Google Docs, you can edit the file, format it the way you want and then export it to Word (.DOC or .DOCX) format. This free online tool is probably the best out there, not because it’s free but also because the quality of the generated PDF file is much clearer.

2. Zamzar: The site that needs no introduction, Zamzar can convert files of any extension to another extension in less than 5 minutes. You have to upload the file, wait for the conversion (or enter your email to get the converted file emailed to you) and download the file.

3. Comet Docs: A popular file converting tool, similar to Zamzar, offers PDF to Word conversion. There are four simple steps to follow for converting file into Word format.

4. PDF Online: All the complex PDFs, with tables and images included in the document, are properly converted to Word format without scarifying the layout and format of the original file.

5. PDF to Word: You can convert variety of files to PDF format with this free tool. Upload the file, enter your email to receive the newly converted PDF in your inbox in less than 20 minutes. Upload limit: 10 MB per file.

6. New OCR: If your PDF documents have images with text on them, you can convert these images into editable text format using New OCR. The converted text can be copied and pasted on your desktop Word Processor, which can be later exported into the desired format.

7. DocsPal: DocsPal lets you upload file from your computer or enter the URL of the document. The site doesn’t identify the file format, so you have to select the original format along with the converted format you want.

Do you have any other site that needs to be added to the list? Which services do you think are the best of ‘em all? Let me know through your comments below!

Hit the play button on any of the YouTube video and the video will instantly start buffering. Now load yet another YouTube video and this clip will buffer too, but the loading speed will now be cut in half as the first video is already buffering.

Let’s assume that the first video is one hour long while the second one is just 5 minutes long. Because the Internet speed is divided equally between two videos, you have to wait for some time till the buffering of these videos is completed.

A better way out of this messy situation is to stop the first video from buffering and proceed to watch the other one. To stop a video from buffering any further, this is all you have to do:

Right-click on the video > Select Stop download.

Note: Hitting the pause button will still buffer the video. By using Stop download, you are permanently stopping the video from buffering any further.

Another solution is to close the page of the first video — that’s silly, I know!

Whenever you are playing a YouTube video on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you will notice that the app doesn’t run in the background. Sure you can send YouTube app to the background but the currently playing video will be paused.

This means there’s no music for you to listen.

Here is a simple trick that I have been using for a while to listen YouTube songs in the background on my iPhone 4S. You can use this trick on any iOS devices.

Listen to YouTube Video Songs Through Music Player

Step 1: Launch the YouTube app. Now open any video of your choice.

Step 2: You need to go to your iPhone’s homescreen. Double-tap the home button to bring the multitasking bar. Switch to any app — Safari, in this case — then move to homescreen.

Step 3: Lock the iPhone by pressing the sleep button. There will be no YouTube music running in the background, obviously.

Step 4: Double-tap the home button; this will bring the iTunes Music Player. Click Play to listen to the song that was buffering in the YouTube app.

Given the number of apps available on the internet, blocking websites on a computer should be a piece of cake for anyone. But how do you unblock a blocked website?

It’s Easier to Unblock Torrent Sites…

Take an example of The Pirate Bay that is currently inaccessible in parts of the UK. Unblocking such sites is definitely possible.

Here are some ways you need to resort to unblock torrent sites on your computer, coming straight out of the TPB blog:

Solution #1: Use TOR browser. You can easily download .torrent files off TPB by using TOR on your computer. Use the browser to access the website and grab the magnet link of the torrent.

Solution #2: Change DNS. Switching to Open DNS or Google DNS can help you bypass the block imposed by ISPs.

Solution #3: Use MAFIAAFire plugin. Add the add-on to your Firefox browser to access domain names blocked by ISPs. You need to simply type in the website URL on your browser’s address bar.

Solution #4: Use Free VPN. Sites like VPN Reactor offer a free service to unlock sites — it is limited to 30 minutes per session which is enough to grab the torrent file.

Solution #5: Use Proxy. Operated by the UK Pirate Party, there is a free TPB proxy site that can be accessible through this link. You can also use free, fresh proxies available online.

Another tip to gain access to locked sites is to use Google Translate. Add the website URL and hit the Translate button to access the page.

If the download doesn’t begin or downloading is really slow, there are always similar copies of that file available elsewhere on the web — grab the .torrent file and launch them using any of your favorite BitTorrent client on Windows or Mac.

Here’s an interesting optical illusion video that uses water and sub-woofer to trick your eyes.

The illusion gets better midway as the droplets of water goes upwards, against the gravity.

How Is This Possible?

Brusspup, who uploaded this optical illusion video on YouTube, explains the trick:

Fill a bucket full of water and place it about 5 feet off the ground. Place a speaker (a really good subwoofer) about 1 foot lower than the bucket. Run a plastic tube from the top bucket down in front of the subwoofer. Tape the tube to the front of the speaker. Then aim the end of the tube to an empty bucket on the floor. Get the water flowing from the top bucket. Now just generate a 24 hz sine wave and set your camera to 24 fps and watch the magic happen.

And this is what you need to do to reverse the flow of water…

Now if you play a 23hz sine wave your frame rate will be off just a little compared to the sine wave causing the water to “move backward” or so as it appears. Basically your cameras frame rate is synced up with the rate of the vibrations of the water so it appears to be frozen or still.

You can play a 25hz sine wave and cause the water to move slowly forward.

Mac users can use your hand gesture and iSight camera to play a song on iTunes.

Flutter is a free Mac app that lets you control iTunes and Spotify through gestures. Simply place your hand in front of the iSight camera to pause, start and control the currently playing song on your Mac.

You can stop or play the song anytime, but doesn’t mean the app will launch iTunes or Spotify automatically. You have to launch these programs, and Flutter, running in the background, will use the iSight camera to detect your hand gestures.

Here’s a video on how Flutter works:

The app is free to download. It works as advertised, but we surely need more features. Given the price, this is probably one of those infinitely cooler app that you should definitely try it out.

One more thing: If any of your Mac app — Skype, for instance — is already using iSight Camera, Flutter will not work.

App tested on: iMac, Mac OS X Lion.

Before you go berserk and blame YouTube for not playing high quality videos over 3G connection, here is the tip just for you. This simple tip will quash your frustration with YouTube and also put an end to your low-quality videos saga.

When you are watching videos over 3G network, YouTube app automatically reduces the quality of the video to save your precious bandwidth. So how do you bypass this restriction and watch HQ videos on your iPhone?

Disabling the YouTube app will do the trick!

It’s that simple. When you turn off your YouTube app, the web version of YouTube will enroll itself as the default video player and you are free to view videos in HQ.

To disable the YouTube app on your iPhone, follow this path:

Settings -> General> Restrictions -> Enable restrictions. Then turn off the YouTube option.

Note: This tip applies to iPhone users who are playing YouTube videos over 3G connection. You’ll get high quality videos by default if you are connected to Wi-Fi.

Delivering a presentation on a certain topic is an enthralling experience. A lively presentation can drive confidence in you. On the flip side, a presentation slide slapped with unformatted text taken right out of the textbook can shake your confidence, and, if unprepared, probably send you adrift in the sea of embarrassment.

For effective presentation, you should not only show a rush of enthusiasm but also plan carefully. A blend of tidy text that is both concise and clear to understand along with compelling videos is the recipe for a good presentation.

Probably you don’t know how to add videos into your presentation, but you don’t have to worry — it’s easy. Before we begin this tutorial, you should have Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your Mac or Windows. The version of PowerPoint doesn’t matter, though it’s good to have the latest version installed on your machine.

Ways to Insert Videos into Presentation

There are several ways to add video clippings into a presentation slide. But one things you should ask yourself before you proceed further: whether the place of your presentation has access to the Internet?

If your answer is yes, then inserting video — not just YouTube but any video or webpage available on the Internet — can be achieved easily. All you have to do is include a hyperlink to the video in your presentation slide.

For example, if you want to add this video into your presentation, launch Microsoft PowerPoint. Select the text, then right-click and choose Hyperlink.

In the next window, you’ll add the URL of the video. The text now points to the video. You can also hyperlink image using the same process.

This is one of the easiest way to link a video, but note that clicking on the hyperlink will open the default browser. Also, video will play only if there’s an Internet connection — which was made clear earlier.

What if you don’t have access to the Internet? Follow this guide:

Use Movie Browser to Add iTunes and iMovie Videos into Your Presentation

Another easy way to add videos already available in your iMovie, Photo Booth, and iTunes Library is to use Movie Browser. This option is available under the Insert menu in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Go to Insert, click on Movie -> Movie Browser. From the browser, select the video, drag it into the presentation slide. Save the presentation. That’s it!

Add YouTube Videos in Presentation

There’s an option to add a Movie From File option under the Insert menu. This option, when clicked, pops up a window leaving the rest to you to select the video you’d like to embed in your presentation.

But that’s not exactly what you need. You want to embed the whole YouTube video into the presentation, something like this:

Video demo: Embedded Video Clip in PowerPoint Presentation

So how you do pull off such a trick when you want to add YouTube video? It’s easy. You have to download YouTube videos on your machine. Then, if required, convert the clip into a PowerPoint-supported video format.

There are several ways to save YouTube videos. Mac users can switch to this guide while Windows user can always use tools like YouTube HD Downloader.

Related: When YouTube Video Freezes…

For instance, Mac users can use MPEG Streamclip to download and convert videos, then add them into the presentation using the Movie Browser. Or, if you don’t want to install any application, Clipnapper and Keepvid can help you download YouTube videos off the Internet and shove them into the presentation.

If your Safari browser crashes, or an error is thrown right at you as you grind on endlessly to watch YouTube videos, then it’s time to update your Mac’s Adobe Flash Player.

The issue is not with OS X Lion but Safari browser and Adobe Flash Player. Strangely, even if the Adobe Flash player installed on your Mac OS X Lion is up-to-date, the browser crashes sometimes.

How to Fix Flash Player Crashing on Mac OS

The latest version of Adobe Flash Player has been rolled out recently. Apparently, updating to 10.3 Flash Player should clear the error you encounter while watching YouTube videos.

You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video

Read this post on how to update Adobe Flash Player on your Mac.

Fix issues with Safari and Adobe Flash Player

Another solution is to download the Release Candidate version of Adobe Flash Player. Do this especially if Safari browser crashes when you load Flash-based objects.

The Adobe Flash Player 11 is available as a Release Candidate, which means the product is close to a final version, and can be downloaded from here.

You have to uninstall Adobe Flash Player and then setup the Flash Player 11.

Make sure that when you are installing the Adobe Flash Player on your Mac, everything related to Flash, including browsers, are closed. Once the installation is successful, relaunch Safari browser and enjoy the seamless browsing experience.
