System Requirements For Windows 8 Operating System

Trying to blur the line between mobile and desktop Operating System, Microsoft’s Windows 8 is optimized to run on any system seamlessly.

Microsoft released the beta build of Windows 8 recently, and the set of recommended system requirements delivers a fairly pleasant experience even on systems with fewer resources.

In fact, Windows 8 requires less power and less resources than Windows 7.

If you want to run Windows 8 Developer Preview on your PC, here’s what it takes:

  • 1GHz processor for both 32- and 64-bit version.
  • At least 1GB RAM for 32-bit version; 2GB RAM for 64-bit version.
  • Hard disk space of at least 15-20GB — although VMware Fusion recommends 60GB of space.
  • Support for DirectX 10 graphics and drivers.

Note that, usually, the requirements of 64-bit version are slightly more than 32-bit version of Windows 8.

So, if are running Windows 7 on your PC, then it’s a piece of cake to have Windows 8 up and running. And if you haven’t downloaded Windows 8 yet, then go ahead and give it a try.
