Install latest Google chrome Adobe flash player plugin

October 3, 2008

If you are using Google Chrome web browser then you might be aware that sometimes you can’t view youtube videos from chrome and get a message “Sorry the video is no longer available”. This is due to the flash player issue, though you have flash player installed on your computer and the youtube videos works perfectly in other browsers like Firefox, Opera then why does the flash plugin player doesn’t support chrome browser?

This is due to the incompatible nature of chrome with the new macromedia flash player.

So here is quick fix for those who want to watch youtube videos on Google chrome. Basically we are going to remove/uninstall the old Adobe flash player from all browser and install other version of Macromedia adobe flash player plugin.

Installing Adobe Flash Player on Google Chrome

First download the small Flash player uninstaller file and uninstall the current flash plugin from your system, here are the un installers

Adobe has the updated Flash player 10 beta for Windows and Mac,download them and install the flash player. Now close all the application and re start the system.

Open youtube videos on Chrome & Viola! you can watch videos now :D This worked for me and hopefully will work for every chrome user! If you are unable to get the Youtube videos working on Google chrome or any other flash content then here is another guide to have Google chrome Adobe flash player working!

Worked perfectly. I had to install flash 10 twice, but it worked.
I restarted the computer after installing flash 10 the first time. Once it had re-booted, I still couldn’t view flash (video). I installed it once more, and it worked. Use this website for flash 10: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Thanks,

-Dan.

ATTN: KAPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS USERS

Disable the WEB SCANNING (or the whole application if web scanning does not fix the problem) to solve the problem of youtube reporting: “Sorry the video is no longer available”

Enjoy

This method was easy and did work like written. Remember to reboot or log off!

However I am not pleased with the result. I don’t know if its flash player 10, or their fix for chrome to recognize the installed copy,But when I use youtube the video wants to buffer completly before it plays, then while its playing, that grey circle activity animation that normally rotates in the center of the video remains there flashing. It looks like its reporting the activity from keyframe to keyframe or something. The progress only makes it to the second dot then starts over, making it “flash” This sux im going back to the old method.

Its a manual workaround where you download a file (flash9.xpi?), change its extension to .zip extract 2 particular files and put them in your google chrome plugin directory (which you have to create)
I haven’t watched that video, but I am familiar with the process. I also know the plugin directory is in a different location when installing with “Google Pack”
