After the runaway success of Xperia Z phone, Sony knew the next logical step was to work on an “upgraded” version of Xperia smartphone.
After working round the clock for months, the Japanese mobile manufacturer has finally announced the phone in the form of Xperia Z Ultra. The new Sony Xperia ZU (Z Ultra) is an Android-powered phablet (call it a smartphone, if you will) that features a 6.4-inch display screen and comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
At the time of writing, Sony Xperia Z Ultra is launched only in China and India. See: Sony officially launches Xperia Z Ultra in India.

The official price of Xperia Z Ultra is Rs. 46900 inclusive of tax. It will be available on all the leading mobile stores starting August 2nd, 2013.
When you purchase the Xperia Z Ultra phone, you can select one out of the three colors available — black, white, or purple.
After getting to play with Xperia Z Ultra at the launch event that happened in Bangalore, I must add that the phablet fits perfectly in my hand (and it certainly feels good), despite many opinions that the 6.4-inch screen is “too big.”
Flash is missing from the camera, which is something worth noticing. An iPhone, even with flash turned OFF, can shoot better pictures compared to the Xperia Z Ultra’s 8MP camera.
It surprises me to even think how Sony managed to pack so much into a smartphone without sacrificing the “slimness” of the device. The 6.5mm body has a beautiful back with premium finish. Two thumbs up for Xperia Z Ultra’s beautiful design.
Huge screen is a plus if you use (or want to use) Xperia Z Ultra as a replacement to your everyday computing task. The addition of Triluminous display technology brings vibrant colors on the screen, which is visible when you watch high-quality videos.
One thing though, the price of Xperia Z Ultra is on the higher end of the spectrum. Paying Rs. 47000 for a smartphone requires second thoughts.
