Sony Ericsson and AT&T to Launch New SmartPhone in the US | Xperia X10 SmartPhone

Sony Ericsson and AT&T may soon give you a reason to celebrate with a new Android super-phone which promises to be all that you want and probably all that you will ever need from a phone! Communication, social media, and audio visual media –you name it! The Xperia X10 has it all!

This device has been unveiled in a joint press statement and it’s quite unbelievable that this phone launches in the US months after a phone with same name has been selling in Europe and other parts of the world.

The Xperia X10 features a 4-inch screen along with a powerful 1 GHz processor, 8.1MP camera and memory which is expandable up to 32GB. With the powerful hardware comes a smart software suite and the UI too, is one of a kind.

This new UI, named Rachael, is touted to give the HTC Sense UI a run for its money and initial reviews suggest that it will do just that. One detail which is not known yet is regarding the version of the Android OS that this phone will run. While its European counterparts run the Android 2.1 or older (even the Android 1.6!), this phone should pre pre-loaded with the new Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

If not, then a delayed launch in the US will be further dampened, most certainly.

Two major components of this phone’s software are Mediascape and Timescape. Mediascape is an advanced media manager that lets you sync all images, videos, music files in your phone. It also allows for simultaneously accessing the same file online and offline.

For example if you are listening to a particular song and want more info about and other tracks from the same artist, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 can help you do just that.

Timescape is a chronological update of all your social actions and updates. It updates data from Twitter, Facebook, Picasa, email accounts, SMS and many more sources. So you can easily go back in time to access old info.

Xperia X10 smartphone will be available on and from the 15th of August and will cost you just under $150 for a two year AT&T contract. Ask your friend in Europe how good a phone it is, before buying!
