Their are some cool Gmail hacks/tricks which most of you may or may not know about .

1. Basic Fast loading  Gmail - The problem of Slow Gmail loading was solved just few weeks ago and now gmail loads 20% faster. But You can access your Gmail even more faster by 2 ways

  • Loading basic Html
  • Mobile Gmail

Loading basic html - While signing in to your gmail account you can see something like this on the right bottom

Loading standard View | Load Basic HTML (for slow connections)

ScreenShot5

Click on Load basic HTML and you will get a basic HTML mail view. After being signed in,just see the Top part of your gmail which will look something like this

You are currently viewing Gmail in basic HTML Switch to standard view | Set basic HTML as default view

ScreenShot6

Click on Set basic HTML as default view and next time whenever you login,Gmail will load 50% faster. You can change the preference to Standard view for normal Gmail view.

Mobile Gmail - No,you don’t need a mobile to login to Mobile version of Gmail.Just type this in your browser’s address bar.

m.gmail.com - Remember no http:// or www must be added.Just type m.gmail.com.This is the most basic Gmail you will ever see.You can’t visit the live links which you received in your mail! Really very useful when you need to check/read the mails faster.

I have been using this for a year now.Simple and fast!

2. Add multiple dots to your Gmail id - If you have a Gmail id like this Yourname@gmail.com ,then you will still get mails for Your.name@gmail.com.Place the dot anywhere before @ and you will get all your mails to your original mail id.

Ex - Mail sent to Y.o.u.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com will be recieved to Yourname@gmail.com

Also your friends/partners can send you email at Yourname@googlemail.com which is same as Yourname@gmail.com

3. Spam protection - When you register to some websites, they ask you mail id for registration. These website services often promise not to sell your email id and maintain privacy. If you feel insecure of this then you have to use a + sign to your Gmail id while registering.

let me brief this - if you are going to register at some site called as Sample.com and feel insecure to provide your mail id then you can use Yourname+something@gmail.com When Gmail sees a “+” in an email address, it uses all the characters to the left of the plus sign ,ie. Yourname@gmail.com

Go to Settings, set up a filter. In the From box, add Sample site.In the To box, put in your newly-created Yourname+something@gmail.com address, and set the filter to put in a folder named as “Something”.Now all their spammy mails will go directly to the trash.

Let me know which trick/hack you knew and which one you liked the most ?
