Why Alexa traffic curve and ranking system sucks

In between the month of June I was addicted to Alexa information statistic service,as we know Alexa is a pretty old website service which is used to analyze various aspect of the site/blog and  rank of a websites/blogs.This ranking system/statistics of Alexa is based on it’s own different algorithm.Alexa encourages users to install a toolbar onto their computer and then they use the information from the database system to give a inappropriate ranking and false information about a particular website/blog!

Alexa ranking and traffic curve lags by one week,i.e it won’t show any real time traffic stats! This post is about alexa system being inaccurate (it sucks too) but I still can’t understand why people like to use alexa as a metric-analytic tool!

Anyway this is the screenshot of the traffic curve of blogote according to Alexa.

As you can see the traffic line/curve is almost going consistent and doesn’t indicate much difference ,this means Blogote got a consistent traffic till June 23rd which is absolutely wrong!

Why Alexa sucks :

To prove alexa system is false (I hate it now,It sucks) I have checked my Google analytics stats and from this Screen shot you can easily figure out that from June 16 and till June 18th this blog got massive amount of traffic,it is about 25 times more than the usual daily traffic.Their were 10k unique+ visits in those 3 days which is huge compared to the daily stats! The screenshot says it all!  But if alexa was right in gathering data and calculating the traffic then alexa system must have shown a rising curve but the curve didn’t shoot up!

This clearly indicates that Google analytics data may be wrong or alexasucks in showing the right statistics.As we know Google analytics is considered as the most accurate traffic analyzing service available and moreover Woopra,Reinvigorate,shows the same stats indicating that Alexa system is wrong!

The bottom line

Alexa is getting less and less accurate (lets call it inaccurate) over the time (their updates doesn’t help in providing accurate stats) and also your rank depends on people visiting your site with the Alexa toolbar installed.If they visit your visit frequently then you will get a good rank,frankly saying Alexa system is outdated.The traffic,ranking,comparing statistics sucks! You can use Alexa only to get an Idea on your traffic and nothing more than that.Don’t waste time or lose your heart (or cheer up) by using alexa system.

Support Alexa sucks

Here is a non profit Alexa blog from a guy called ALEXA SUCKS who created a webpage on free blogspot to prove that alexa system of ranking web pages and other sites really suck and he wants to show/prove this to millions of people! I agree with him..
