Well using smilies/emoticons to your blog post and to wordpress comment section is the best way to interact with the people,it expresses the mood of the reader. For me “A Smiley speaks a thousands words“.
Smiley/emoticons is a type of symbol or combination of symbols which is used to convey the emotional content in written or message form.(wiki)
Here are the list of some good wordpress smiley which will be useful for both commenting and blog posting :
1. Yahoo / Msn Smiley plugin - This plugin has around 150+ smilies(including msn and yahoo smilies) which will integrate in your comment section of wordpress. This plugin replaces the default wordpress smiley but the installation guide is a bit tricky. If done properly you will surely love this!
2. LMB box Smiley plugin - LMB Box Smileys lets you add a button to the Comment Quicktags Menu bar or you can manually add a piece of code to the smiles to your comment.php theme file. Once you click on the button/link, a popup window opens a set of smiley, choose the one you like and start commenting to show your mood.
3. Wp Grin plugin - Many people use wp-grin plugin which provides simple clickable smilies for both the post form in the adminpanel of wordpress and the comments section of your blog.
4. Smiley JS button - compatible with WP 2.2.x on all setups.Though they no longer provide support, they have smiley which look like the default wordpress smiley with a fade look.See the demo here.
5. Chinese emoticon plugin - Extraordinary! These are crazy little animated emoticon.I don’t know why they called this plugin as “Chinese“.Everyone who used this plugin appreciated without any problem.
6. Smiley Themer plugin (Recommended) - Imagine if you have 14 sets of smilies in just one wordpress plugin and you can change the one set of smilies with just a single click.Woow! This is by far the best smiley plugin which I have used. They have their own smiley toolbar to add custom smilies to a blog in the comment section, more than 10 people worked for this awesome plugin.Go check them out !

I was searching for \’Msn Discover\’ at google and found your post named \’dpress Smiley plugins for comment and blog post | Blogote.com\’ in search results. Not very relevant result, but still interesting to read.

That’s a nice list. I never knew there were so many plugins to replace smileys in WordPress. The only one I know is WP Grins. Thanks for the list.
