Almost every commercial Mac application installed on your computer has a serial key. This unique serial key (also called as license key) brings life to your paid app.
Let’s say you are going to reinstall Mac OS on your computer. Although you can backup the entire Mac HD using Time Machine, to be on the safer side, it is always recommended to note down the registration key of the purchased app.
For those who have purchased third-party apps legally, you will receive an email with the license key. Rather than trying to find the license key from every corner of your email inbox, you can use this nifty little Mac app called Mac Product Key Finder.
This free app makes it a lot easier to get all the serial numbers of the apps installed on your Mac system. There are three simple steps to follow for recovering lost serial keys:
It’s that simple! You don’t have to do anything — the app will scan your Mac for licensed apps and then puts the list of apps along with the serial keys in one window as shown above. You have to hit the “Save to…” button to save the file in either .XML, .CSV, .PDF, .TXT or .HTML format.
If you have lost the CD, don’t have the product key number of the app written down on a piece of paper or stored in your email, this is the app you need.
Tip: After saving the file, you can send an email to yourself with this file added as an attachment. This way the file will be completely secure and easily accessible from anywhere, anytime.
