Gmail Down – Gmail Gtalk Contact List doesn’t Load.

By Sidharth | Google

After logging onto Gtalk desktop tool, I found none of my friends were visible online. All the contact list names were blank and panicking all the way through I figured out contact list of Google’s Gtalk is down.

This interruption doesn’t allow you to chat with your friends through the web interface ( or with the Gtalk desktop chat. After running a quick search on Gmail down on twitter I found tons of people are encountering these issues though Gmail is working fine – Real issue is with the contact list which is temporarily down on Gtalk and Gmail!

I’ve been experiencing this problem from around few hours now which is not resolved yet. So, if you have any important things to get done then email your friends 😉

Update: Gmail notifies that they will be back soon. The issues are as stated by Gmail.

Your contact list is temporarily unavailable, which may result in a few issues:

  • Auto-complete may not work
  • The contact manager may not load
  • Chat may not work

We’re working to fix the problem, and in the meantime, you should be able to continue to read and send mail as normal. Thank you for your patience.
