Indian e-commerce sites have seen a tremendous growth — both in terms of gross revenue and customers — in the last 3 years. As a consumer we have Flipkart, eBay, Yebhi, Homeshop18 and hundreds of other shopping sites to effortlessly order things we want, right from the comfort of our home or office.
Although it is said that the e-commerce companies in India will not be profitable for a few more years, but customers have hugely benefited through these companies. When it comes to buying gadgets, offline retail stores have prices at the higher end of the spectrum, while online shopping sites offer gadgets and many other electronic items at a ridiculously low price as they deal directly with the manufacturer. The undeniable fact is that online shopping sites have made our life a little more easier. But there’s more.
Google has recently launched a new online festival for Indians. The Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) is Google’s initiative to bring a 24-hour shopping bonanza for Indians. On 12th December, 2012, you will get huge discounts, coupon codes stretching across 300+ online shopping sites. Note that the “offer” ends in a day, so prepare yourself to blow your money.
If you visit the GOSF.in website, you will find massive number of online sites offering discounts from 10% to 40%. The menu on the left sidebar breaks down the shopping sites into various categories like apparel, beauty, etc.
Under every site there’s a description, explaining more about the site and the kind of discount available. Some sites offer special discounts through coupon codes, while other sites like Flipkart have a special landing page.
Note: You will discover plenty of new sites while browsing through GOSF, but before purchasing anything online, do a quick search on Google. Look for reviews, as there are sites that do not deliver products to your doorstep yet they demand upfront payment.
One of my friend had a bad experience while buying a smartphone through an e-commerce site, which is also listed on GOSF. We have been politely demanding a refund since the last 6 months, with no luck whatsoever!
Remember to read reviews before purchasing expensive stuffs online.
