If you have been waiting for Apple to refresh its MacBook Air lineup, then the wait has been worthwhile. According to the latest news surfacing the web, Apple is refreshing its MacBook Air notebook which is rumored to launch somewhere in the month of June or July.
MacBook Air 2011 Launch
The retail launch of the latest MacBook Air is predicted to be anywhere around the month of June or July, while the mass production and shipments are expected to begin in late May. Also, according to Digitimes, Taiwan-based Apple product supply chain will come up with new 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch MacBook Air models.
The news from Digitimes ties in with other internet sources that predicts the launch of the MacBook Air is evident and is just around the corner. As Apple is known for updating its line of products every year, the new MacBook Air, presumably, should come to light by the end of June.
What’s New With MacBook Air 2011
After launching the refreshed models of MacBook Pro and iMac models this year, one thing is for sure: MacBook Air is unlikely to get a major makeover. However, it doesn’t come as a surprise if the Macbook has Thunderbolt ports and Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors, because we saw similar patterns of hardware changes in this years’ MacBook Pro and the iMac.
Performance wise, weighing the rumors and reports, the MacBook Air is a definite winner over the current MacBook Air models — credit goes to the Intel Sandy Bridge processor and the Thunderbolt transfer technology, which is five times better than USB 3.0.
Will you buy the MacBook Air?
Apple refreshed the MacBook Air last year, in the month of October, and it is that time of the year where Apple is expected to refresh its product. While I don’t think the Apple MacBook Airs are going to create a new wave of sensation amongst the consumers, but, internally, this laptop will outdo the current MacBook Air.
It will be interesting to see how the next-generation ultra-thin MacBook Air catches up with the latest MacBook Pros and the iMac. If the folks at Apple decides to slash the price of MBA any further, then the notebook might garner more eyeballs than before.
For now, don’t buy the current MacBook Air model unless it’s entirely necessary; if you can wait a little longer, the new MacBook Air should be up for grabs very soon this summer.
However, it is you who has to decide whether you want the latest MacBook Air or the new MacBook Pro coming home this year.
